I have extensive experience in instructional design and learning and development, working across multiple industries, and serving in a variety of roles. I’ve been an IC, team lead, professional services consultant, a project manager designing, developing and delivering eLearning, instructor-led, and blended learning experiences, and even an education product owner.
I've worked in boutique eLearning companies and in B2B and B2C software companies. On the enterprise side, I’ve served as a learning and development specialist supporting employees and driving digital learning initiatives. And I’ve even been a product manager, developing a B2B training and certification program. I enjoy experimenting with technology, but my primary development tools are Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Captivate. I also have several years of script writing and production experience from working on video-based education and webinars.
I’m a practitioner I like digging in and being hands-on – that’s probably why I’ve gravitated toward smaller companies and startups. On the flipside, I’ve also served in more strategic, consultative roles; planning and executing large, complex projects, implementations and learning initiatives. My weird, wonderful career has made me a true trans-disciplinarian. I incorporate UX and CX principles in all of my learning experiences and enjoy creating learning objects that can quickly morph into content marketing or a customer engagement tool. I have a Masters in Instructional Technologies, so I can sling pedagogy and methodologies with the best of them. However, I’m a novel and adaptive thinker - unafraid to propose fun, funky or unconventional ideas. I'm also a fan of experimenting with delivery media, so I'm happiest when I’m stretching the boundaries our learning comfort zone.
I love helping people become the best possible versions of themselves whether it's through skills development, career growth, growing their business, or just learning something that enriches their lives. I love being an ID because I get to learn new stuff all the time; I am literally and figuratively, a ‘life-long learner’. At the end of the day, I simply live to see that lightbulb moment in others. For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone learn, grow, achieve, or simply complete a task. I believe all learning has the power to transform – in ways big and small – but always important or meaningful. Learning changes lives, human lives. And if humans (learners, users, customers) aren’t at the center of its design it cannot serve them; this is true, regardless of the design practice you're pursuing (instructional, product, program, learning experience, user experience, customer experience, etc.). And yes, I use 'love' a lot... but I mean it!
